چکیده
Protective parameters of embryonated egg adapted, Montanide-adjuvanted, inclusion body hepatitishydropericardium syndrome (IBH-HPS), formalin inactivated, and commercial oil-based vaccines, were recorded and analyzed in the present study. Efficacy of the vaccines was tested on the basis of humoral and cell-mediated immune responses, challenge protection against IBH-HPS agent, mean body weight, and organ to body weight ratios. Indirect heamagglutination IHA antibody titer in terms of geometric mean titre GMT in the group vaccinated with Montanideadjuvanted IBH-HPS vaccine (Group C) was significantly higher than the groups vaccinated with formalin-inactivated vaccine (Group A) and commercial-oil based vaccine (Group B), followed by unvaccinated challenged (Group D) and unvaccinated unchallenged control (Group E). Responsiveness to a mitogenic lectin, phytoheamagglutinin-P was significantly reduced in Group A as compared to Group B, followed by Group C. Immunization with Montanideadjuvanted (IBH-HPS) vaccine conferred protection in 95% of the chickens as evidenced by the absence of clinical signs, hydropericardium, and mortality, followed by the group vaccinated with commercial oil based and formalininactivated IBH-HPS vaccines. There was reduction in mean body weight and organ to body weight ratios of the bursa of Fabricius BF, spleen, and liver recorded in group A as compared to groups B and C. The results revealed that administration of Montanide-adjunvanted IBH-HPS vaccine could protect chickens more efficiently from IBH-HPSV challenge as compared to formalin-inactivated and commercial oil-based vaccines.

Fiber gene based molecular and biological characterization of hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome associated avian adenoviruses
This study was designed to perform biological and molecular characterization of avian adenoviruses (AAVs) recovered from suspected cases of hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome (HHS) in commercial poultry. Initially the samples were screened by Agar Gel Precipitation Test (AGPT) for the presence of AAVs followed by its confirmation and typing through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) focusing on a...
متن کاملMolecular identification of aviadenoviruses in broiler chickens suspected to inclusion body hepatitis in Golestan province, Iran
Background: Fowl adenoviruses (FAdVs) are distributed widely throughout the world, and domestic avian species of all ages are susceptible. Fowl aviadenoviruses (FAdVs) can be separated into 5 different species (A-E) with various genotypes and 12 serotypes. Some geno- or serotypes induce hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HPS), inclusion body hepatitis (IBH), and adenoviral gizzard erosion (AG...
متن کاملAn Inactivated Novel Genotype Fowl Adenovirus 4 Protects Chickens against the Hydropericardium Syndrome That Recently Emerged in China
Since 2015, China has experienced outbreaks of severe hydropericardium syndrome (HPS), associated with a novel genotype and hypervirulent fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4) infection, with a prevalence in various provinces of the country. This has resulted in huge economic losses in the poultry industry. The novel FAdV-4 showed new genome characters, such as the natural deletion of open readin...
متن کاملCorrection: Pathogenicity and Complete Genome Characterization of Fowl Adenoviruses Isolated from Chickens Associated with Inclusion Body Hepatitis and Hydropericardium Syndrome in China
In this study, we determined and genetically characterized three fowl adenoviruses isolated from chickens with inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) and hydropericardium syndrome (HPS) in China and assessed their pathogenicity. The full genome of HBQ12, BJH13 and JSJ13 was found to be 44,081, 43,966 and 43,756 nucleotides long, respectively. Sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis revealed that s...
متن کاملEvaluation of Thimerosal Removal on Immunogenicity of Aluminum Salts Adjuvanted Recombinant Hepatitis B Vaccine
Thimerosal, which is approximately 50% mercury by weight is a preservative widely used in vaccines since the 1930’s. It meets the requirements for a preservative as set forth by Pharmacopeia challenge test and has been shown to be effective against a broad spectrum of pathogens. In July 1999, the Public Health Service agencies and vaccine manufacturers agreed that thimerosal should be redu...
